Arangetram is a word in the Tamil language which means ascending the stage.
It is the first complete concert of a dancer. It is not a graduation; rather, it is the first milestone in one’s journey as a dancer.
The first formal performance heralds the dancer’s commitment to this art form and brings to light her caliber.
Sheela Ramanath honed her Bharatanatyam skills under the tutelage of Gurus Sridevi Thirumalai (Natyamani School of Dance) and B. Bhanumati, the Director of Nrityakalamandiram. As part of Bharatanjali and as a soloist, Sheela performed extensively throughout India, the UK, and the USA. Sheela started Kalavaridhi Center for Performing Arts in 2001.
Sheela’s choreographic repertoire includes individual and group features. Some of her thematic productions include Sri Rama Margam, Sri Krishna Naamaamrutham, Nirantaram, Evam and Nivritti, among others.
Sheela and her students have rendered numerous performances in various prestigious venues. She is an empaneled artist of Fairfax County’s Creative Arts Program and has also been invited to judge many Indian classical dance competitions. Sheela holds a Masters Degree in Bharatanatyam.
Ananya started her Bharatanatyam journey from the age of 6, under the guidance of Guru Sheela Ramanath, Director of the Kalavaridhi Center for Performing Arts. Bharatanatyam has been an integral part of Ananya’s life for the past ten years. At Kalavaridhi, under the mentorship of Guru Sheela Ramanath, Ananya learns not only this divine art form but also the lifelong skills of responsibility, perseverance, determination, and more. She has employed dance as both a means of artistic expression and a source of happiness. Ananya has participated in numerous fundraisers and performances in the DC metro area, from which she gains new insights into physical and mental stamina with each rendition. She looks forward to continuing her Bharatanatyam journey after her arangetram.
Ananya would like to thank her Guru for the years of teaching and constant guidance and encouragement. Ananya also likes to thank her parents for introducing her to the divine art and seeks their blessings for her Bharatanatyam Arangetram. Ananya also likes to thank her brother for his constant appreciation and support extended to her.
Ananya seeks blessings from her guru, parents and families for her Bharatanatyam Arangetram
